Melanie Thornton is the Leadership Development Facilitator here at CURRENTS. She is passionate about facilitating discussions that challenge organizations and individuals to embrace the values of inclusion, equity and social justice as tools in the reinvention of their professional identities and work. Some of her areas of interest include Deaf and Disability studies, diversity, inclusion, information technology, innovation, leadership, universal design, and user experience. Prior to coming to UA CURRENTS, Melanie was the Associate Director of the Disability Resource Center and the Director of Project PACE at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She also has 8 years experience working as a counselor with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services. Melanie earned her master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Gallaudet University and her bachelor's degree in psychology from Hendrix College.
